Partnering on a net-zero community

PG&E announced a proposal for an innovative net-zero community in downtown San Jose in partnership with real estate developer Westbank.

The project is developing three new data centers and upwards of 4,000 residential units to transform downtown San Jose, responding to demand for both AI-driven data centers and housing. The clean energy solution supports both PG&E’s climate goals and San Jose’s commitment to a net-zero future.

Under the proposal, PG&E will power the area, delivering approximately 200 MW of energy for three data centers. A district energy system will allow excess heat from the data centers to be harnessed and repurposed to provide heating and hot water to neighboring buildings.
