Patti Poppe is the Chief Executive Officer of PG&E Corporation and serves on the Boards of Directors for PG&E Corporation and its utility Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E).

Poppe and her PG&E coworkers deliver safe, reliable, clean and affordable energy to 16 million people across Northern and Central California. Under her leadership, PG&E implemented lean business principles to transform how the company operates and to improve customer experience and brand trust. With safety as a foundation, PG&E has increased efficiencies and reduced operational waste resulting in operating cost savings and improved resilience. With the foundational improvements in place, PG&E is positioned to serve the growth and prosperity of California now and in the future.  In 2025, PG&E was recognized by the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment as one of the top utilities in the nation for wildfire safety.

 

Poppe joined PG&E in January 2021 after five years as President and CEO of CMS Energy and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy. In her decade-long career with the Michigan company, she also served as Senior Vice President of Distribution Operations, Engineering and Transmission; Vice President of Customer Experience, Rates and Regulation; and Vice President of Customer Operations.

 

Previously, Poppe served as a Power Plant Director at DTE Energy. Prior to joining DTE Energy, Poppe held a variety of plant management positions in the automotive industry at General Motors.

 

Poppe is a member of the Board of Directors for Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services Limited, Edison Electric Institute and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations. She serves on the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council and the Purdue Engineering Advisory Council.

 

Poppe earned a master's degree in management from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University.
