Shay Bahramirad, Ph.D, joined PG&E in 2024 as Vice President, Electric Transmission and Distribution Engineering.
Dr. Bahramirad leads PG&E's Electric System Planning and Reliability, Central Design and Estimating and Transmission Substation Engineering and Test teams as well as Electric Technology and Grid Innovation.
Before joining PG&E, Dr. Bahramirad held several executive leadership positions in the energy industry. Most recently, she worked at LUMA Energy in Puerto Rico as the Senior Vice President of Transmission and Distribution Strategy and Sustainability. Dr. Bahramirad was responsible for planning, engineering, and execution as well as funding strategy and cost recovery of rebuilding the electric grid in Puerto Rico.
Dr. Bahramirad is the current president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Power and Energy Society and has served on the U.S. executive board of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE). She is a patent holder and an author with more than 100 peer reviewed publications. Dr. Bahramirad is passionate about driving inclusion in the energy industry and has founded IEEE PES Women in Power and spearheaded numerous STEM initiatives for girls around the world and serves on the board of Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
Dr. Bahramirad holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and has held educational positions, including as the Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering for the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
