John Janney is Vice President of Grid Platforms and Networks for Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
Janney leads day-to-day IT operations, ensuring reliable, cost-effective integration of IT infrastructure, applications and operations. He develops and implements the IT infrastructure, technical and operational portions of the overall IT strategy for the enterprise, including key programs across Cloud, Field Area networks and mobile technologies. Janney joined PG&E in 2025.
Janney has 25 years of Information Technology leadership experience in the utility sector. Before joining PG&E, he spent 16 years at Southern California Edison (SCE) leading transformational initiatives across various IT teams, significantly improving safety, system reliability and cost-efficiency. Most recently, Janney served as Managing Director of SCE's Digital Grid Services team with accountability for Network/Telecommunications, Data Center Infrastructure and grid enabling IT/OT technology solutions.
Janney and his wife are active members of their community and support various youth sports organizations. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Fullerton.
