Austin Hastings is PG&E's Vice President of Gas Engineering.
Gas Engineering plays a critical role as PG&E addresses the energy needs of the future while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our natural gas system, which serves 4.5 million customers. In this role, Hastings is responsible for near-term engineering priorities and long-term planning for the utility's gas infrastructure, as well as gas asset and risk management.
Since 2022, Hastings has been Senior Director of Gas Strategy Execution and System Planning. He joined PG&E in 1997 as a Pipeline Engineer, and he has held roles of increasing responsibility including creating and developing the Liquid Natural Gas/Compressed Natural Gas (LNG/CNG) Engineering and Operations organization; Director, Standards and Operator Qualifications; Director, Central Operations Support; and Director, Wholesale Marketing and Business Development.
Hastings is a graduate of California State University, Fresno where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
