Austin Hastings is PG&E's Vice President of Gas Engineering.

Austin Hastings is PG&E's Vice President of Gas Engineering, a role he has held since June 2024. Hastings oversees near-term engineering priorities and long-term planning for a system serving 4.7 million customers across over 50,000 miles of pipeline assets and is central to how PG&E is preparing its gas infrastructure for California's clean energy future. His leadership responsibilities span integrity management, gas standards, compliance, risk and design engineering. Hastings' work ensures PG&E meets California's energy needs by balancing safety, reliability, affordability and sustainability—today and as the energy system continues to evolve.

 

Prior to this role, Hastings served as Senior Director of Gas Strategy Execution and System Planning from 2022 to 2024. He joined PG&E in 1997 as a Pipeline Engineer and rose through engineering, operations and commercial roles over nearly three decades, including building the company's LNG/CNG Engineering and Operations organization from the ground up, an effort recognized with the American Gas Association's Distribution Achievement Award in 2016.

 

Hastings holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Fresno, and a Professional Engineering license from the state of California.
