Aaron J. Johnson is Senior Vice President of Local Customer & Community Engagement and serves as PG&E's Chief Sustainability Officer.
In this role, he is responsible for sustainability, local performance and advancing support for PG&E's hometowns. Previously, Johnson has held a variety of leadership positions at PG&E. He was Vice President of the Bay Area Region, accountable for delivering high-quality customer service, safety and reliability of regional operations. Johnson was also Vice President, Wildfire Safety and Public Engagement in Electric Operations, with responsibility for improving operational practices and situational awareness to mitigate wildfire risk.
He also served as Vice President of Customer Energy Solutions, overseeing customer and clean energy programs, including PG&E's entry into the electric vehicle charging business. Earlier in his career, he worked in energy procurement, shaping renewable energy policy and leading solar and wind development.
Prior to PG&E, Johnson worked at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) as energy advisor to two Commissioners and was a member of the senior management team.
Johnson holds a bachelor's degree in optical engineering from the University of Rochester and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of New South Wales in Australia. He also serves on the Oakland Workforce Development Board.
