Vice President, Nuclear Generation | Pacific Gas and Electric Company
Jim M. Welsch is Vice President, Nuclear Generation for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. With 36 years of nuclear experience, he provides leadership over the plant's maintenance, operations, learning services and organizational development functions.
Prior to his role as Vice President, Nuclear Generation, Welsch served as the Station Director, Operations Services Director, Operations Manager, Operations Shift Manager, Control Room Supervisor and Shift Engineer. He was first hired at PG&E in 1984 as a Simulator Specialist. He served in several training roles prior to receiving his Nuclear Regulatory Commission Senior Reactor Operator License in 2000 and transitioning to the Operations Department. From 1979 to 1984 he worked for Public Service Company Indiana at the Marble Hill Nuclear Station during its construction. Additionally, Jim is a graduate of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations Senior Nuclear Plant Management Course and Hudson Institute of Coaching Certification Program.
A native of Danville, Illinois, Welsch holds a B.S. in Nuclear Technology from Regents College New York and served in the United States Nuclear Submarine Service from 1973 to 1979.
