Richard A. Meserve
President of Carnegie Institution of Washington
Dr. Meserve is President of the Carnegie Institution of
Washington (non-profit organization dedicated to research
in biology, earth sciences, and astronomy), and has held
that position since April 2003. He also has served as Senior
Of Counsel to the law firm of Covington & Burling since
April 2004, and was a partner in that firm from 1984 through
1999. Prior to joining the Carnegie Institution, Dr. Meserve
was Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission from
October 1999 through March 2003. Dr. Meserve, 63, has been
a director of PG&E Corporation and Pacific Gas and Electric
Company since December 2006. He also is a director of Universities
Research Association, Inc. and the Foundation for Nuclear
Studies.
